Responsible gambling
Decide the stake before the session
Every game on the brands we rank keeps a margin for the house, so a long enough session ends behind. Set the amount and the finishing time while you are still away from the lobby, and count that amount as gone the moment the deposit clears. A win is a bonus, not a plan.
Controls waiting in your account settings
Each ranked casino lets you cap deposits, cap losses, run a reality-check timer, take a break of a few days, or shut the account for good. Tightening a cap applies at once; loosening one waits out a cooling period. Setting a strict limit early therefore costs a player nothing at all.
When the fun has quietly stopped
Raising the stake to win back what went yesterday, funding a deposit with borrowed money, keeping the length of a session from the people you live with, or opening the lobby to flatten a bad mood are the usual warnings. A partner spotting it first counts as a warning too.
Support available across New Zealand
Gambling Helpline NZ takes free calls on 0800 654 655 at any hour and can ring you back. The Problem Gambling Foundation of New Zealand runs counselling in person and online, both for players and for the whānau caught up in someone else's play. Nobody under 18 may hold a casino account.
